Beth Fancsali
Beth Fancsali is Fermilab’s Interim General Counsel. She leads the Office of General Counsel (OGC) and is a member of Fermilab’s leadership team. Beth joined Fermilab in December 2015 as Deputy General Counsel. She was a member of the 2019 cohort of the Department of Energy National Laboratories’ Oppenheimer Science and Energy Leadership Program (OSELP) and is an active participant in the Department of Energy Contractor Attorneys’ Association (DOECAA). Beth also is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP). Before joining Fermilab, Beth was a partner in an international law firm where her practice spanned the areas of compliance, business counseling, internal and government investigations, and litigation. Beth earned her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Miami University (Ohio).
Ivy Gibson
Ivy Gibson is Associate General Counsel in the Fermilab OGC. Her practice includes labor and employment matters and a variety of other legal and regulatory issues. Ivy began her legal career in the Office of General Counsel at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, an independent agency of the Department of Energy. She later served as the Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Western Carolina University, a constituent university of the University of North Carolina System. She earned a J.D from the Catholic University of America and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Shade Amole
Shade Amole is Associate General Counsel in the Fermilab OGC. Her practice includes contract negotiations, review, and procurement related issues. Shade began her career as an Attorney in Nigeria and continued the same path upon migrating to the United States. Shade’s previous experience include working as an inhouse counsel for Dangote Industries, one of the largest conglomerates in Africa, and an Attorney for Triad National Security LLC, the M&O contractor for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). She earned a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law.
Alec Rubenstein
Alec Rubenstein is Associate General Counsel in the Fermilab OGC. His practice includes construction and project matters, as well as a variety of other legal and regulatory issues. Before joining Fermilab, Alec spent much of his career advising and managing various public and private clients on complex legal matters with a focus on construction, development, financing and procurement, and compliance issues. Alec has his J.D. and B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Paul Ellison
Paul Ellison is Assistant General Counsel, Privacy, Security & Trade / Export/Import Control Compliance Manager in Fermilab’s OGC. Paul earned his J.D. from George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School and his B.A. from Brigham Young University. Before joining Fermilab, Paul was Senior Counsel for International Trade Compliance at Hughes Network Systems, LLC, a global leader in satellite broadband solutions and managed network services with millions of systems and customers in over 100 countries. Prior to this, he was vice president of a trade compliance consulting firm that advised domestic and multi-national corporations.
Elizabeth Mendyk
Elizabeth Mendyk is Legal Operations Manager in the Fermilab OGC. She joined the lab in March 2017 and serves as a strategic partner to the General Counsel on legal operations-related matters, including assisting in driving and executing OGC priorities, strategic plans, and key projects and initiatives. Other key responsibilities include both Prime Contract Management and management of the Insurable Risk Program for the Lab. She has an MBA with a concentration in Data Science and Analytics, and a B.S. in Political Science and History from Elmhurst University. Her professional experience includes working in Procurement, Human Resources, and Finance across different industries.
Carly Kurr
Carly Kurr is Legal Operations Specialist in Fermilab’s OGC and is responsible for departmental administrative tasks, legal operations, and legal support for OGC attorneys. Her professional experience includes K-12 science education and private legal practice. Carly has a B.S. in Law, Politics, & Society from Drake University and a Graduate Certificate in Paralegal Studies from George Washington University.
Ryan Hildebrand
Ryan Hildebrand is Legal Operations Assistant in Fermilab’s OGC and is responsible for departmental administrative tasks, legal operations, and legal support for OGC attorneys. Ryan’s previous experience comes from engineering recruiting for the Aerospace and Defense industry, as well as six years of service in the US Army where he served as an Infantry Squad Leader and Communications Expert. He has a degree in Information Technology Management from DeVry University.
